Move On Funding – Financial Support for Ukrainians in Birmingham

The Move On Fund is a one-off financial support administered by Birmingham City Council to help participants of the Homes for Ukraine scheme when moving from a sponsor’s accommodation to their first privately rented home. The aim is to assist with essential costs during relocation and settling into independent housing.
Who is eligible?
Ukrainian households who arrived in Birmingham under the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
Have lived with a sponsor and are moving to their first privately rented property.
Apply within 12 weeks of your sponsorship ending.
You must have a tenancy agreement in your name or a family member’s name.
Important: The fund is not available for those on a Family Visa or Ukraine Extension Scheme.
How much can you receive?
Up to £3,000 for households of up to 3 people.
Up to £3,500 for 4 people.
Up to £4,000 for 5 or more people.
What does the Move On Fund cover?
Rent and deposit: first month’s rent and security deposit.
Moving costs: removal services or van hire (invoice required).
Utility bills: gas and electricity for up to 3 months.
Essential furniture and household items:
Beds, mattresses, bedding.
Sofa or chairs, dining table and chairs.
Fridge-freezer, cooker or microwave.
Washing machine, basic kitchenware, kettle, iron.
Not covered: decorative items, paint, tumble dryers, toasters, bathroom accessories.
How to apply?
Complete the Move On Funding Application Form on the Birmingham City Council website (Homes for Ukraine section).
Email supporting documents to ukraineb@rmcentre.org.uk:
Tenancy agreement and invoice for deposit.
Utility bills.
Receipts for furniture and appliances.

Can I submit more than one application? Yes, up to two within 12 weeks of sponsorship ending.
Can I move outside Birmingham? Yes, the fund is available even if you rent in nearby areas.
