2. What is Childcare and How to Save Money?

In the UK, Childcare refers to officially registered care for children. If you choose a camp with Ofsted Registered status, the government offers several ways to subsidise the cost:

  • Tax-Free Childcare: A government scheme for working parents. For every £8 you pay into an online childcare account, the government adds £2. This provides an automatic 20% saving on holiday club fees.

  • Universal Credit Childcare: Parents receiving this benefit can claim back up to 85% of their registered holiday club costs through the government portal.

  • Childcare Vouchers: Many providers (such as Kings Camps or Ultimate Activity) still accept legacy corporate childcare vouchers.

3. Free Programs: Bring it on Brum! (HAF)

For families whose children are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), a special initiative is available.

  • What it is: Fully funded places at camps, including a minimum of 4 hours of activities and a healthy hot lunch.

  • How to book: You will need a unique code from your child's school. Registration for Easter 2026 opened on March 9th.

  • Official Website: https://bringitonbrum.co.uk/

4. Essential Parent Checklist

To ensure the holidays run smoothly, please keep these British standards in mind:

  1. Nut-Free Policy: Most camps strictly prohibit nut products (including Nutella and protein bars) due to the risk of anaphylaxis in other children.

  2. Extended Care: A standard day usually runs from 9:00 to 15:30. If you require longer hours, check for "Early Bird" (from 8:00) or "Extra Club" (until 18:00) options.

  3. Clothing: Weather in the West Midlands is unpredictable. Always pack a spare T-shirt, a waterproof jacket, and a labelled water bottle.

  4. Medical Details: Ensure you list any allergies or specific medical conditions during the registration process.
